Marathonissi (Turtle) Island

Across the starting location of the harbour and  in a small distance of 10-15min
With two lovely beaches.

The first beach of Marathonissi island is sandy , larger and more popural.

There you can enjoy your sunbathing, swim in crystal clear blue waters and have a cold refreshing drink and a snack from the float bars.

On this sandy beach the Caretta Caretta turtles choose to lay their eggs. 

You can notice the protected area of the turtle nests. It is the reason why sun umbrellas are not allowed at the beach. Also it is accessible up to 3 meters from the shore and a rope indicates its limit. 

The second beach is with pebbles, quiter and next to Marathonissi caves.
It needs an experienced boat driver to reach the beach because of the numerous rocks under the sea.
